post card invitation based on Alice in Wonderland & chinese papercut art
During my professional experience at IdN (one of the coolest publications in the world!)
I had the opportunity to create several designs for them :

my IdN book coupons used at Detour HK, inspired by vintage ‘admit one’ coupons
my illustrations and papercut art for their Christmas promotional offer
a proposed packaging solution for IdN x eBoy camera strap

my rebranding for nine owls tea
inspired by vintage tea rooms from the 1920′s – often named after animals-
Nine Owls Tea was founded by Shannon Voss, an artisan boutique tea maker based in Brisbane,
using the finest locally sourced organic herbs, her delicious teas are harnessed and blended with love!
A creative horticulturist, Shannon produces unique and unusual blends
I personally am addicted to her ice teas made from recycled rain water, as they don’t contain any preservatives they are best consumed
within 4-5 days (I usually finish it within the first)
She’s a bit of a tea cocktail designer, dreaming up new brews to make teas just a little bit more interesting

more illustrations to be used on collateral ; ‘birds of a feather flock together! tea lovers should flock to Nine Owls Tea blends!’
Now stocked in some of the hippest places in town, such as Brew,
be sure to have a cuppa when you’re in town!
and with this I conclude today’s post, I leave with you an interest piece by
George Orwell titled ‘A nice cup of tea’

warning this is an extremely ditzy blurb but I can’t contain myself …!!!!!!!
Unikko tram
I love these I love these I love these …
looks so good on our trams!
and on buildings.. !
LOVE their dresses & pink clogs
all images via here
I can’t wait to visit the store …!!!
Now I HAVE to go back to Hong Kong, broke or not.
read more about it on their official site
before we begin I think we should address my fatal attraction to
thrifting vintage goodies and cafe hunting
thus you will understand why I squealed like piggies
when we stopped for lunch here:
Vintage Kitchen & Vintage Closet
when I first started at the design studio (oh my it’s been a year!)
my shi fu took me here for a lunch treat, but at that time I didn’t have a camera!
an eclectic mix of found, vintage objects scatter around the cafe
all of which are for sale
yep I’m a sucker for rhyming!
Bean on Dean is a cafe that has seriously thought about its presentation
recently a lot of restaurants seem to be on a squirrel cage bulb kick!
(I love them too but they just blow too damn easily!)
I fell in love with the old Singer sewing machines
used as cafe tables - talk about smart upcycling! (and you can still pedal it!!)
it’s an interesting blend of street art, industrial lighting, and salvaged furniture
they’ve even reused vintage cotton spools as table numbers!
if there was a map detailing Brisbane’s best kept secret
Bean on Dean would definitely be on the list
it’s another one of those cosy cafes that has sprouted in the middle of nowhere,
and that makes it all the more precious to find
Kerfuffle (avocado, Danish feta, rocket, olive oil and balsamic vinegar)
chicken wrap! mmm, nom nom nom
and I have to say, the coffee here was better than the Campos coffee I’ve had in Newtown, which has left me, gobsmacked !

my mini moo cards have arrived!
100 cards, each featuring a little snap shot of my work on one side!
miu’s like “step inside my office, here, take a card”
have had a lot of people mistaking the name Kunstkammer as
a rude word lol
kunst in German means art, kammer is cabinet
when placed together it means cabinet of curiosities
as a multi disciplinary designer,
my portfolio aims to be a showcase of
different creative output, from graphic collaterals to objects and merchandising
hence the portfolio is like a bit of a cabinet of curiosities!
these cards are so handy!
portfolio in your pocket!

Japanese creative agency I&S BBDO has taken food design to the next level:
intricate laser cut patterns on the nori (the seaweed used in sushi)
transforming the simple sushi hand roll into a work of art
“We carved into Nori various Japanese classic patterns that signify happiness,
long-life, etc, creating an unprecedented type of Nori as a result of the combination of a traditional product with a modern laser cutter, thereby conveying both our wish for the future, as well as our respect for the past.”
gotta appreciate the creative efforts that makes life a little bit better,
bite by bite!

Absolutely breath-taking …
Brightness Dawn Collection by Setareh Mohtarez
a NYC based designer that has distilled cosmic wonders
into beautiful petals of dresses
would she kindly make my wedding dress? : )
enjoy !
226 Leichhardt St, Spring Hill
Instant fondness for cafes that uses Genovese
from the same owners of Foxy Bean at the Gabba is Holy Moly!
my usual smoked salmon with scrambled eggs
I think scrambled eggs is simply the best test for the quality of the food at a cafe
hardest thing to make right!
really digged the sauce for their eggs benedict
then love & I went wandering, went to see the new bookstore at Winn St
and found some interesting new shops have popped up !
A Brisbane designer! A brand with a lot of potential.
Very cosmic wonder … I imagine their clothes will find their way into
the closets of fashion aficionados such as
Bleach Black or Fashion Toast …
ruffles, oh I love ruffles!
a smart VM idea that a lot of spaces are currently doing
this way it doesn’t matter if you don’t hide the guts of vents etc on the ceiling!
I love their attention to detail, how cool is this overlapping zigzag-y sleeve?
this shisha-esque phone actually works!
and what I love best about this boutique
(apart from the obviously cool clothes and display)
is that their staff was warm and genuine,
in my experience many of these alternative fashion labels /select stores hire
have such snooty, rude girls who can look you in the eye when you walk into the shop
and completely ignore you
pffft.
cool hanging perspex display
interesting colours!
will go back for some partay dresses soon : )
-
the little leather and jewelry atelier that
is always closed whenever I happen by- luckily not this time !
behind the brand is Kristy Morgan,
her design is raw and inspired by rituals and mystic ceremonies,
employing skills she learnt working alongside various
cobblers, saddlers, lapidarists & silversmiths
a beautiful leather bounded portfolio
(so soft to touch I kept fondling it …)
their work reminds me of a little Pamela Love
-
I’ve frequented Sunday Social many times
but I’m not sure I’ve blogged about them!
a petit store carrying vintage goodies from the states,
a lot of granny dresses, bold felt hats in all colours imaginable,
occasionally more branded seconds like a black pair of Ferragamo flats
and the other day I just saw a cute corner with sailors outfits for babies!

“meet Ms Chi Qi,
she’s just a little bit cheeky!”
Another one of our new brands at Wintergarden!
Purveyor of a fusion of South East Asian cuisine,
with freshly brewed teas & yummy wraps / salads …even congee!!
(oh my god the green tea that I tried today with some lime and other citrus rinds …
gave me a better kick than a cocktail after a long day!)
Ms Chi Qi was born from good ‘chi’ / ‘qi’ i.e. energy in Chinese
she’s a lively brand mascot that inspires you to eat healthy and get active!
are you feeling quite CHI?
I think this word would catch on!
drink tea for good Chi!

one of our brands Petit Four opened today!
after months and months of hard work it’s
so satisfying to see it come to life : ) !
our concept was simple :
to utilize the custard yellow that is already in the space,
and incorporate the elegance of high tea and fine cuisine
we were inspired by their home made dainty petit fours,
so the aesthetic is minimal & sweet
I also merchandised their space!
(with more high tea sets & champagne coming soon)
unfortunately the Ghost chairs and bar stools are held up at customs
so these are make shift : )
me in process of curating their little chocolate corner
Karen’s freshly hand made Petit Fours! mmm

I recently assisted POD COMMUNICATIONS with designing a
creative ‘garden’ theme for
the Wintergarden mall in Brisbane CBD
My illustrations were used as hoardings, as well as laser cut butterflies vinyl
I also had the chance to work with the multi-disciplinary designer Cameron King
(he is a renown interior designer , bespoke furniture maker and
also art / vm director for several brand such as Tea Two and Review … !!!
the list goes on and on … )
to install the visual merchandising around the center !!
…and this includes hanging 400 glass bottles in a cascading wave
(I’m no glass bottle installation rookie, after Aesop’s 10,000 bottle installation, yep)
and flower bomb heads
beautiful powder coated bird cages and magnetic butterflies
here are the photos; enjoy!
these synthetic flowers are gorgeous to look at and touch!
I actually couldn’t help myself but sniff it at first encounter haha
POD studio overload !!!
in the boot we go!
first trial, the head’s more explosive!
